Rain Rain Rain Rain Rain. So much rain I'd forgotten I was in Australia and slipped into a sluggish post van-life stupor. I needed some sunshine and some surf bad! It was on the last two days of my trip that everything turned around, the wind from onshore to off, and the sun from clouded out to shining!
I spent two days hanging around the six ounce shop and learning about the labor intensive job of surf shop worker. These guys have it rough, surfing early before work starts at the crack of 10am. Talking about surfing and surfboards most of the day with customers, shapers and other shop workers. Copious amounts of hydrating liquids (beer, iced coffee) were required just to satiate these exhausted conversationalists. If that wasn't enough they had to search tirelessly for other surf shop employees to cover them while taking another tiring lunch break surf. It was a fantastic two days and I learned a lot about the task of running a surf shop. Mostly that I want to do it, despite all the hard work.
tasty fuckin' picks!
