During a recent trip to Joshua Tree (photos soon) I spent one glorious day in Santa Barbara. Despite living their for over five years I am still completely in awe of it's beauty. Riding on the Amtrak bus through Gaviota my eyes had trouble taking it all in. From the lush hillsides covered in bright yellow mustard flowers and punctuated by monolithic sandstone outcroppings to the bluest of oceans lightly capped with white, it was almost to much to take.

After a few hours in the hot sun at my favorite beachside skatepark I met up with the unstoppable and always classy Ryan Lovelace We spent the day soliciting some local coffee shops and generally hanging out in the Mediterranean downtown. After errands were run and people where thoroughly watched and analyzed, it was time for some decompression and contemplation at the Wilcox Preserve. Located on the Mesa area of SB, tucked unassumingly amongst the modesty of suburbia, this open space preserve is a small escape for locals and their dogs, as well as high school students and their need to smoke pot and drink in the woods.

We ventured out to a nice little secret bluff overlooking the sea with views stretching from Santa Rosa Island to the UCSB campus to Point Conception and beyond. What could make such an experience any better you might ask? Well a guitar playing song singing beer bringing angel of course! Ms. Nicole arrived just in time to sing the sun to sleep with her original tunes. Dolphins frolicked offshore while the sun melted away into the hills and the dulcet tones of Ms. Nicole lulled us into tranquility.
