NO GO

Theres a stretch of road well traveled in western Santa Cruz. It's where the first tingle of excitement usually hits. You can see if it's glassy (it is) what the swells doing (it's perfect) and get a pretty good idea of wether or not your gonna score. Most see the short drive as a means to an end. A famously crowded perfect right point break or the open fields and reefs where there are no guaranties. If it's gorgeous and a weekend (it is) your co pilot will get stuck behind a finger pointing slightly lost van driving tourist. While maddening to the frothy grom in all of us, it's a chance to take a closer look at what clean West swell can make over tables of reef. It's a reminder that there are always chances to stray from the well worn path. It's evidence that we should take those chances. The cliffs hide all manner of treasure if you keep your eyes open.
